Our middle child , Nathan, is so into Transformers lately, that he requested a Transformers theme for his 6th Birthday. He specifically wanted a Bumblebee cake – the Yellow Camaro car like the one in the movies.
This is our home-made version of Transformers Bumblebee cake. We seldom try odd-shaped fondant cakes for several reasons – first, we haven’t got much experience in making these types of cakes; second, we only have round cake pans available; and third, we are worried that the proportion of the cake will be far different with the original model that we intend to copy. And to top all that, this will be the first time that my husband and I will be making a car-shaped one.
After hours of making, we finally present our finished product – which the Birthday Boy loved, by the way! It was so much fun making this cake.
We’ve decided to put the candle separately on the side of the cake. The guests loved it as well!
Our son has a little Transformer Bumblebee toy that we used as a model for the cake that we made for him.

great cake …what size cake did you bake to cut shape from…
Thanks! I only have round baking pans at the time so I used my 9″ to make the cake. Surprisingly, there is not much scraps left, as I put them all together to build a one-piece car-shaped cake. 🙂
