We made this fondant cake for our godson, Ryan, who turned 5 a few days ago.  He loves the Minions and requested a Minion cake for his birthday. Despicable Me 2 movie was just shown in the movie theatres so the Minion popularity went up again.  As a result, there are so many Despicable Me Minion cake ideas floating around in the internet lately.

Our original plan was just to make a Minion head – as it is simplier due to it’s shape being oval.  It will also require less colours and details on the design.  However, while preparing the cake base, we made some last minute changes to the design.  We decided to include a part of the Minion’s jumper.  I love the details – including the pocket and the dotted hem lines along the jumper.  I’m glad that we’ve added them to the original design.  It looked so much better than what we’ve expected.
